Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the oldest, continuously practiced medicines available today. Its efficacy is well known, and in some regions of the world it is part of every day life. In modern times, ancient formulas are adapted to today’s diseases.

A Chinese herbal formula has two aspects: the symptoms themselves, and why that person in particular experiences symptoms. Herbs for neutralizing the illness are combined with herbs particular to the individual person.

Chinese Herbs are very safe when prescribed by a qualified herbalist. Herbs and acupuncture can be combined with conventional western treatments. Side effects from medical treatments, such as chemotherapy, can be alleviated with Chinese herbs and acupuncture.

Nowadays many doctors are interested in alternative therapies that help their patients and we are happy to coordinate with other providers. 

At Mystic River Acupuncture uses herbs from sources that we trust. Herbs are tested and, when possible, organically grown. We only deal with reputable distributors when purchasing herbs.
